The Brighton Arts & Culture Council acknowledge that we are gathered on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Mississauga Anishinaabeg peoples. For countless generations, they have been the stewards of this land, its waters, and its resources, nurturing a profound connection between their communities and the natural world.

The arts and culture of the Mississauga Anishinaabeg peoples are deeply rooted in this land. Their traditions, stories, songs, and artistic expressions have flourished here, embodying a rich heritage that continues to inspire and inform the creative landscape of this region. Through their art, the Mississauga Anishinaabeg have passed down wisdom, history, and a deep understanding of the world around them.

As we engage in our own creative practices, we honor and respect the cultural contributions of the Mississauga Anishinaabeg, recognizing that their artistic legacy is an essential part of our shared history. We are committed to supporting and uplifting Indigenous voices, ensuring their traditions and stories are celebrated and respected in all artistic expressions.
